The Altec Lansing iM600 sound system offers stereo sound from dual 2-inch neodymium drivers optimized for high-frequency extension (better highs, in other words). It offers more power and output than any other system in its class and, what's more, it features Altec Lansing engineering innovation called the Stereo Field Expander: SFX for short. SFX makes the speakers sound further apart than they really are, giving the user a heightened stereo effect. The iM600 also features a stereo FM radio and can double as a clock radio when plugged in to an electrical outlet (AC adapter included). It includes rechargeable Li-ion batteries and a wireless remote. And it syncs and charges all dockable iPod models.Whether on the go or on your desk or tabletop, the iM600 resets the expectations for features and performance in a sound solution for the iPod.

Customer Rating: Summary: great product Comment: I have a Sansa 280 that I use with Jabra C820 noise canceling head phones---an amazing combination. But I got spoiled by this and started wearing the headphones all the time, which will start to grow moss inside your ears. So I went to Best Buy to Buy the Best speakers and saw the Altec-Lansing speakers there. But Best Buy didn't have any in stock, so I ordered from Amazon (ultimately Electronics Expo), where the price was much less. They came right away and I love them (I'm listening to Yo-yo Ma right now). I didn't expect much from the sound because the unit is so small and I am used to tinny sound from boom boxes, but the sound from these is precise, deep, and amazing for the small size of the unit.
The unit is very compact and looks very nice with the Sansa 280 plugged into it.
Finally, the built-in FM receiver is quite good---much better than the Sansa's because of the wire antenna everybody is complaining about. I don't complain---that's what top-end stereo receivers have and it works! Mountain climbers who insist on bringing it along to the summit can roll up the antenna and put a twist-tie on it. Most will use it in their office or bedroom and will be more than happy about the crisp FM sound.
One word of advice: I couldn't find the remote control unit and thought it was forgotten, but it's embedded in the bottom of one of the styro packing blocks.
Customer Rating: Summary: Absolute value for the money Comment: The sound performance of the iM600 as an iPod dock is outstanding for a small living space with numerous rooms. The volume turns up nicely without reverberation. The remote is effective, although the small size and slick backing can cause it slip out of your fingers easily. Am hoping AL will release a compact well-priced subwoofer again soon to complement this.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great machine!! Comment: This was everything I wanted in a machine, only wish it came with a carrying case. Battery holds a charge for at least eight hours and the sound is more than I expected.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sleek, compact, good sound Comment: I wanted an iPod stereo player that I could put in the kitchen that wouldn't take up too much space, and this is perfect. It works well with my iPod classic and the FM radio sounds good too. I liked it so much that I got a second one for my husband to use at work.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sound is excellent, dock doesn't support the ipod well Comment: Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Portable Audio System for iPod I purchased this speaker system to use when I teach my cardio dance and yoga classes at a recreation center. The sound remains excellent when the volume is turned up. Unfortunately my ipod Classic consistantly malfunctions either by stopping in the middle of a song or skipping to the next song in the middle of a song. The dock doesn't seem to hold the ipod snuggly so the connection is not complete. I love the size, weight and sound of this speaker system. I just wish the ipod would be reliable when it's used in this system. The advance and rewind buttons & the tiny little remote don't work consistantly either. I have no need for the FM radio or alarm clock, but this was the only portable and affordable system with quality sound boost that fit my needs. The price has already dropped since I purchased this a few weeks ago. It would be nice if it came with a carrying case. I bought a lap top computer case to tote it around.
