Add advanced features of SATA II RAID 0 and RAID 1 to your computer. PCI Express is the new standard that will replace PCI. The new PCI Express interface effectively quadruples the amount of available computing bandwidth, resulting in faster music downloads, smoother streaming video, and lightning fast access to mass storage devices. The SATA II RAID 2-channel PCI Express Card offers the perfect solution for users who want to add Serial ATA II ports to their computers. The Card is designed to take advantage of the additional bandwidth and features provided by the new PCI Express I/O interconnection standard. Now you can download multiple large files at the same time without worrying that your computer will freeze, crash, or slow down to a trickle. The PCI Express Card future-proofs your computer with technology so advanced that it exceeds the processing speeds of many devices on the market. Installing the PCI Express Card will give you device-upgrade expansion room for many years to come.

Customer Rating: Summary: Does not provide additional SATA ports Comment: I bought this card to allow me to use the eSATA interface. However, it does not work as either an eSATA or a SATA controller.
Per the documentation, this card can only interface to 2 SATA drives at a time (any combination of eSATA or SATA) - not 4 as the description indicates. The documentation indicates that the card can be used as a RAID controller or as a regular SATA controller. There are separate drivers for each configuration. This card is made in China and the documentation was also written in China (meaning poor English) and was very skimpy. I managed to get the drivers loaded after reading the documentation several times. (It has many errors.) I configured one port to be eSATA and the other to be SATA. I connected my eSATA drive to each of the 4 ports (the two eSATA ports and the two SATA ports) and none of them will work with my drive. However, if I connected my drive to the SATA port on my motherboard, it works fine.
If I had read the ZDNet review before I purchased this card, I would have know that this was a RAID-only card.
On the bright side, I now have a SATA cable and a power splitter cable that I can use with my next SATA drive.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not an expansion for the computer-illiterate! RAID ONLY. Comment: I bought this card because my short motherboard only has 2 SATA ports. I'd like two optical drives and two hard drives for some video editing I'm trying to do for work, and I thought this would be a good card for it.
This card ONLY adds RAID functionality to your computer. It's not an open controller that you can plug any SATA peripheral into and use straightaway. The installed RAID controller took over all the SATA functions on my computer and I almost couldn't boot up the machine. The manual is a small poorly photocopied pamphlet. The install directories listed in the manual do not match with the directories on the CD. The CD carries install files for a bunch of cards from the same manufacturer, and they are poorly labeled and documented. Neither the CD nor the manual has been updated compared to the manufacturer's website-available downloads (as in a year or more out-of-date), and there are no instructions for updating the card's firmware. This is the most frustrating part for me, because there are website updates to turn this card into a regular non-RAID SATA controller, or at least enable a JBOD function, and I can't install them. If I had a floppy drive, maybe I could fix this, but I don't.
Also - you can use the internal or external ports, but only two of them at once. All four ports are not available simultaneously, and you choose which two are live with jumpers, not software.
If you know what you're doing and want a two-drive RAID array, this will probably work for you. If you're looking for a plug-and-play SATA controller you can attach an optical drive or single external SATA drive to, this is not the card for you. My advice is to pay the premium and buy a Belkin or Micro Center card. You're buying the name, but you'll get better help too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't work! Comment: The product did not work! The instruction manual was a photo copy! And I couldn't read it.I sent an email to Sabrent , and never got a responce. This was suppose to be new, but it had been used! I returned it to Tiger direct and only got credit for card!I am out about $14 total for shipping!
Customer Rating: Summary: It Works Comment: You can only use 2 of the four ports at a time. I used the 2 inside ports for a raid 1 configuration, so it was fine for me. You have to either use the outside port or the inside port via jumper (1 or 3 & 2 or 4). You cannot use all 4 ports at the same time.
