At this moment I have captured 6 VHS Tapes, and the quality is very good.
I have just captured and stored in my hard disk. I have not used the video editor integrated, so at this moment I don't know if the editor software is good. In fact I prefer my own video editor software.
The program for capturing is very easy to use.
I have tested it in Windows XP SP2 without problems and in Windows Vista I had to install two times, the first one broke up, and in the second attempt it finished and worked fine.
The capture software has been running very stable in both windows.
For the price I think it is an excellent product for beginners. I liked my new gadget.

Summary: Works well except on Vista SP1. Lousy support
Comment: Purchase this product and worked well on Vista. Then upgraded to Vista SP1 and it caused Blue Screen of Death. Contacted support who initially rejected the problem. They told me that they could not duplicate the problem on a machine with only plextor software and Vista. After escalating, they submitted it to Engineering where nothing has happened for a month. Support does not issue incident numbers, does not track them, and has not done any follow up. When I contact them weekly they just state that engineering has it. Would not recommend any products from this company given this support and testing.

Summary: Simple to use, but sounds terrible
Comment: I installed the video convertor on a laptop running Windows XP. I had no trouble with installation, although I did have a lousy time trying to get the product registered at the link provided during installation.
It took some poking around to figure out how to create the video files I wanted. The software is actually pretty easy to use.
I never could get the sound I liked. The signal was significantly degraded coming from my audio equipment, compared with recording directly to DVD or sending the signal to my TV.

Summary: Thrilled to tears with it! Great item!
Comment: I decided on this particular converter after reading nearly all reviews on the other ones offered by Amazon and comparing the features. I needed something like this in my line of work where I typically have to dub video footage from closed circuit security systems. Some of the older systems do not have CD drives or USB ports which in the past meant that all of my colleagues had to lug around a TV-VCR combo to get the job done. NOT WITH THIS BABY! The day after I got it, I had a "situation" where I needed to download some footage. The software was a snap to install, no problems whatsoever (do not connect the device prior to installing the software!) and very simple to navigate and use. Once installed, I plugged it into the USB and on the other end I had a 3-ft coaxial cable with a F-connector-to-BNC adapter on one end (plugged into DVR's Video-Out) and a F-connector-to-RCA adapter on the other end (plugged into device's RCA Video In). I was instantly capturing video on my laptop and burning it to to a DVD-R. The whole process took just a few minutes! I don't know if I can somehow manipulate the file format and burn it to a CD-R yet or possibly just save the data to my hard drive (there is a "save to Temporary Folder" option available as you are capturing video) but I haven't played with it enough yet. All the same, with those features or not, this thing does exactly what I want it to do. The video quality is great for what I have it doing but may not be up to some aficionado's standards. I demonstrated the item to a co-worker the other day that been packing around a TV-VCR combo for years. When he saw it in action, I thought he was going to squirt out a tear. I'm using this thing for something the manufacturer probably did not intend, but wow am I getting great results!

Comment: Very quick and easy to install and use and immediately was able to start converting video from my old analog tapes. The quality of the conversion is not excellent, which is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars.
