The P5K series of motherboards provide four outstanding features for the user. The Deluxe version of the motherboard has built-in native DDR2 1066 support and is able to overclock with an ultra high frequency to achieve DDR2 1400. This ASUS motherboard still provides you with quiet thermal solutions - which contain the 8-phase power design, Stack Cool 2 and the Heat Pipe Design functions. It also comes with the newest AI Gear 2 to save up to 50% of CPU power usage. Complementing all these features are ASUS's innovative tools - AI Slot Detector, allowing the user to conveniently install the computer. The P5K series decreases temperature, provides stable overclocking, lowers noise levels and saves the most electricity.

Customer Rating: Summary: Nice board! Comment: This board's great. I run it with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and a GeForce 8800GT and it's perfectly flawless. It comes with good integrated sound and wireless (which I use). It also has dual gigabit ethernet built in, which I find very handy when at LAN parties that demand the speed of a wired connection.
Anyway, it's as stable as they come and it's an overclocking juggernaut (I'm pretty sure my overclocking limit is imposed by the CPU and the laws of physics, not by the board or the chipset).
If you're looking for a board with all the features you could ever want for your new Intel chip, then go no further than this baby!
Customer Rating: Summary: Asus motherboards stink (for me.) Comment: Every Asus mobo i ever got (at least 4 of them), they all bomb. Usually, it's a finicky issue, like 1 time, they couldn't recognize my dvd IDE drives. Their tech support told me it was cuz my #2 dvd drive was LG (Asus doesn't like LG.) Then, another time, their tech support guy said, Asus didn't like my super cool best-of-them-all Antec power supply/ brand new, 550watts, modular, top of the line, Antec NeoHE 550 psu. Another time, i bought a new router by Linksys, and Asus stopped doing wireless, after half hour. Another time, the Asus AMI bios bombed altogether. Asus boasts about greatness in overclocking, but i got darn good, super good results, and 100% reliable results, from X38 Gigabyte boards. Buy a good mobo, and you will have a good time. This Asus board is p35 anyway, so it's old by now. I don't recommend Asus.
Customer Rating: Summary: ASUS... ASUStame! Comment: El año pasado cuando decidí armar un equipo, una pc, me encontré con la duda de que tarjeta madre usar, para ese momento esta era una de las nuevas y con una propuesta interesante con mucho futuro! No me equivoque!
Customer Rating: Summary: Has a few faults that may be deal breakers Comment: CONS:
* Using the Intel Q6600 results in a bios warning message on reboot that can only be fixed with a bios update. This is extremely difficult to do without a 3.5" floppy drive. Since this is 2007 instead of 1987 it's doubtful you'll have one of those dinosaurs installed on your system.
* Supports a PS2 keyboard but not a PS2 mouse. What's that all about? I have a 3 PC system where everything's shared through a KVM so it's important for me to have a PS2 inputs.
* My SATA devices won't configure properly...but this may be my fault.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good board with a terrible sound driver Comment: Looking for a good board using the new E6850 Intel core 2 duo processor and Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC1066 DDR2 memory the ASUS seemed to be a good choise. The motherboards (bought 2) are used in software development PCs, compiling large applications, replacing old Intel boards with Pentium 4 processors.
The installation was easy using the provided Asus documentation, less than half an hour and the PC was ready to boot (changing several other parts like the power supplies too). Before installing the boards the latest BIOS version was downloaded from the ASUS server, together with the latest Window XP drivers. The BIOS itself offers a lot of configuration options, some for over clocking purposes, we are using the boards with the standard timings, a stable system is very important developing software.
Installing the windows drivers was easy, the PCs ran fast compared to the Pentium 4 based boards we had before. Looking at the temperature in the case the cooling solution of the ASUS board seems to be effective, compared to other PCs we have the temperature is very low. A plus is the amount of USB ports, even 2 Firewire 1394a ports (why not at least one 1394b), a WiFi card, two gigabit Ethernet cards and external SATA connectors, that is an impressive list of external connection possibilities.
But really disappointing is the quality of the sound. It's almost unusable, clicks, scratchings, all kind of noises all the time. Listen music can raise productivity writing code, at least I like to hear my favorite music when I'm programming. Googleing around to get a solution for this issue I did find a lot of people complaining about it, but I did not find a workaround. The sound drivers are the latest build from the ASUS web site, I tried all kind of configuration changes but the poor sound quality stays.
I used a lot of ASUS boards in the past and I was always happy with the brand, that's why I finally bought this product, but the sound quality is more than disappointing, it's unusable.
With a proper sound quality the board earns at least 4 stars, maybe even 5 but before that issue isn't fixed 3 stars is the highest rating I can think of.
