The 245T monitor has a 24-inch, 16:10 wide-screen format, with a 178/178-degree viewing angle. The viewing angle is achieved via Samsung's proprietary Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (S-PVA), the latest technology advancement in liquid crystal cell structure, for an improved user viewing experience. The 245T monitor's ultra-wide viewing area can support a range of multi-window applications, thereby helping to improve work efficiency and reducing the need for two monitors.Furthermore, the 245T model features a high 1920 x 1200 resolution, allowing the monitor to deliver clearer and more precise images. The 245T monitor's image quality is also enhanced by Samsung's MagicContrast which offers a super high contrast ratio and an extra-wide viewing angle that's ideal for providing detailed onscreen images. With the 3000:1 super-high dynamic contrast ratio, it's easy to read or view content on the monitor's screen. The 245T model also comes equipped with MagicSpeed, which gives users an ultra-fast 6ms response time (gray to gray), making the monitor ideal for computer gaming and multimedia-driven applications such as motion or streaming video. A faster response time provides better performance of motion video, and produces smoother edges, clearer images and a more natural image response. These features make the 245T monitor an ideal choice for a range of high-end commercial applications that require clear and precise images, such as CAD/CAM fine-detailed drawings, web and graphic design and desktop publishing.

Customer Rating: Summary: Special Monitor to the extreme, and huge bargain. Comment: I was using a Dell 24" I bought a few years back, and it was nice, but always felt a bit lackluster to me. I use a Nividia 9800 GTX graphics card, and when I read of the quality of color and contrast of this monitor, I asked around to people I know in the business. Every one raved about it. At this low price, I took a chance, and as soon as I turned it on, I knew I made the right choice.
This monitor blows the Dell 24" away. The color and detail is just off the charts.
The reviewer who complained about buzzing, must of got a bad monitor. There is no buzz, or any sound for that matter. There is also no excessive reds, greens, blues, or tie dye; not sure if thise folks just got bad units, have some agenda, or are experiencing flashbacks.
Unless you are willing to pay 3-4 times this price, there is just nothing that comes close to this monitor for color, blacks, and its 3-dimentional quality. Have lived with it now for a few months, and highly recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: A MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY Comment: I bought this Samsung 245T to replace my 243T display that failed due to a gravity error wich in turn created a sudden impact with the floor. Had that not happened, I would not have experienced the wonderfully bright, vivid colors and sharpness this newer LCD display has. I was still happy with the older 243T model, but spending the money unexpectedly was not a disappointment at all. It's 20 lbs lighter, the stand is sturdier because of the weight reduction, I now have USB ports on the monitor, and the menu system is easier to navigate through. I do a lot of digital photography, and if you've never experienced a widescreen monitor of this caliber, you don't know what you're missing. It's worth every penny, and if Samsung stays with this model line, I will, too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not a professional display Comment: I bought this thinking "okay, it's good enough and the reviews say it's quite solid so I'll take a chance and save $400." I received it and tried to love this monitor but even after many tweaks and 4 different calibrations with an X-rite i1 hardware calibrator, the results weren't good enough. The reds are the main problem - boosted to the point of being harsh and pink with bleeding. Combine this with a very noticeable input lag and you've got a display that just isn't for daily professional use. I replaced it with an NEC 2490WUXi and it is the display I wanted this to be: accurate colour, even out of the box, no noticeable input lag and beautiful, consistent blacks. Thought people should know.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Great Value Comment: I bought this monitor to replace an old Apple LCD monitor which had become faded and low in contrast. I use it as a second monitor to hold software "tool palettes" and to view video rough & final cuts. I calibrate all my monitors and profile them by making an ICC for every monitor in my studio.
Installation: I connected this to one of our Mac workstations using the DVi connection and it booted up without any problem. There was no hum or noise. It gets very warm on the top, where the vents are. The USB ports work perfectly, at USB 2.0 speeds. When the computer sleeps, the monitor also sleeps. The viewing angle is far better than the monitor it replaced, but for best viewing I recommend sitting "on axis".
Profiling: This monitor allows each RGB channel to be adjusted, which is very unusual for a fluorescent lamp backlit monitor, and this allows for very accurate profiling. The monitor also allows very good control of brightness & contrast so that once the ICC profile is used there is no banding or artifacts in any images (typically seen when an ICC profile "forces" a monitor's output to conform).
Video: This monitor can display over 90% of the colors & contrast of the NTSC standard. Once this monitor is balanced for video and set with the proper output gamma, videos can be previewed with assurance of accuracy. When using the HDMI as the source feed (e.g., from a Blu-Ray player), HD video can be evaluated with great accuracy. And for those frequent office breaks, your favorite Blu-Ray movie can be thoroughly enjoyed if you have speakers connected.
Four Stars: I gave this monitor four stars because there are monitors that are far better than this one, but cost 4x the price (e.g., the Samsung SyncMaster XL24 24-inch LCD Monitor). To give this monitor 5 stars would mean (to me) that it's as good as the high end monitors, and it's not.
Bottom Line: If you're looking for a monitor to provide you with excellent color/contrast without the expense of a "pro" monitor (at $2000+), and you want HDMI for video playback, this monitor will deliver.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Monitor Comment: Samsung SyncMaster 245T 24" LCD Monitor
This is my first LCD monitor after using an old NEC Graphics CRT monitor for 5 years. Resolution is much higher, the screen is large enough for me to see multiple work areas at a time and to my amazement watching the high def feeds from the Olympic Games in enlarged mode is fantastic. I'm running at 1920 by 1200 and will never go back to the 1280 by 1024 I was running on my old monitor. I haven't yet explored all the preset modes on the monitor but expect to in the future. For some reason Photoshop thinks the Samsung monitor profile is screwed up but I simply have to get around to recalibrating the monitor. I don't notice any difference with Lightroom 2 or any of the other graphics programs.
