PC users are running multiple, intense software applications simultaneously, increasing demand on hardware resources. In the office, PC usage has changed from data entry and word processing to e-Commerce, online collaboration and an ever-increasing need for continual security and virus protection. In the home, interests have shifted from low-bandwidth photos and Internet surfing to downloading and viewing high definition videos, as well as advanced photo and video editing. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor was developed to meet all these demands.Built on the innovative Intel Core microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo desktop processor delivers revolutionary dual-core performance and breakthrough processor energy efficiency. With Intel Wide Dynamic Execution, Intel Smart Memory Access, Intel Advanced Smart Cache and Intel Digital Media Boost, this new processor is designed to do more in less time. Additional features to support enhanced security, virtualization, and 64-bit computing make the Intel Core 2 Duo the most impressive new processor developed for an increasingly multimedia-centered, high-definition world.Design changes in the Intel Core 2 Duo processors that improve performance also increase processor energy efficiency by operating at lower frequencies that require less power to run. Intel Intelligent Power Capability optimizes energy usage of the processor cores by turning on computing functions only when needed. This more energy-efficient processor supports smaller, more capable, and quieter desktop PC to conserve critical power resources.

Customer Rating: Summary: 3 times as fast as P4 2.8 HT Comment: Scripts run three times as fast compared to my old P4 2.8Ghz HT, but as far as everyday performance difference it has been a little disappointing. Windows still takes over 30 seconds to start up, and Adobe InDesign takes about 30 seconds to start compared to about 40 seconds with my old P4. I was expecting a little better.
Customer Rating: Summary: oh yes, it's fast Comment: Just built a pretty high-end rig powered by the E6850 and it has met all of my expectations. It's very fast and I have had no problems whatsoever.
System Specs: Asus P5K3 Deluxe Motherboard, Intel E6850 Processor, 2GB Corsair DDR3 RAM, Thermaltake 1200watt PSU, HIS Radeon HD2900XT 1GB Video Card, Soundblaster X-Fi Elite Sound, Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, Liquid Cooling.
For Asus Mobo users: You will probably get a uCode error when you boot this processor up for the first time. Just flash the BIOS and the error will go away.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fast, good overclocker Comment: After using AMD64 for a couple of years, I am back to Intel.
Core2duo is really amazing. This processor is fast, about 3.75 Ghz AMD X2
equivalent, and overclocks well with good mobo. I have P5K-V and running
at 3.6Ghz with a Cooler master Aquagate S1, high 20Cs low load, low 50Cs
full load. Very few apps can use 100% of this CPU.
Only downside is 45nm C2Ds coming real soon.
