Customer Rating: Summary: Not for use with a Mac Comment: After reading mixed reviews about using this machine with a Mac I called HP and was told it would work with a Mac, " no problem". After receiving the machine and found it would not work with a Mac, I again called HP and was told ,"well it will sorta work with a Mac if you don't want to use all of the machines features, some of them will work and some won't." I returned it to Amazon for a full refund. Five stars for Amazon , Zero stars for HP.
Customer Rating: Summary: Printing DVD is okay, but forget scanning Comment: I should have known better than to buy a low-end HP printer, but the features sucked me in. I need to print at least 2 test pages before the colors print correctly, which wastes A LOT of ink. The scanner is worthless. The only positive feature is the ability to print on DVDs, but again I need to print test pages before I can get a simple black and white label. If I don't, the labels come out purple or pink. This is the last HP color print I will EVER buy. Don't make the same mistake I did.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money Comment: I've had this printer for a little over a month. Today was the SECOND time that I've spent well over an hour on the phone with customer support. To make things worse, the man was so hard to understand that it took 15 minutes just to get my personal information inputed! By far the WORST printer I have ever bought. Constantly jamming. Not worth the trouble for AVERAGE print quality. Buyer beware!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: You can try to kill it...it will not die! Comment: My last HP printer lasted about 5 years (and still worked pretty well when I upgraded), so I decided to go with the HP again.
Came home a little tipsy one night, ran into my desk, sending the printer crashing onto the wooden floor and into pieces. Next morning put pieces back and it works good as new. These guys at HP are getting better at making some sturdy machines.
Also, it prints nice.
Customer Rating: Summary: Well designed and compact, recommend the HP 5280 Comment: We had a project of printing over 100 CD disks. We owned an Epson R300 and had used it for this purpose a couple of times. We couldn't get it to print on CD's. After spending several days on it, support was useless, we decided to try the HP C5280 and not buy another Epson. We found the HP 5280 very nicely designed. Easy installation and set up and prints beautifully on CD's. It prints beautiful photos also. We have only had it a week but so far so good. I would recommend this printer if you want an inexpensive, nice photo and CD printer. It also scans and copies and prints photos directly from the memory card. For the reviewer that was upset that a power cord didn't come with it, I would say when was the last time you purchased a printer? They are almost never included. The ink jet cartridges seem to be lasting a long time. Not like my Canon all in one 780 that needs a new cartridge on a regular basis and I don't print that much. As far as the EPson R 300, we are giving it away. My husband has an HP 1150C that we purchased years ago. An antique in todays world of printing and it is still going strong and we have never had a problem with it. I would recommend HP printers and I would recommend the Canon also except for fact that it is an ink hog.
