Now, with the addition of Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard (included with the scanner) and a new Vista supported version of the ABBYY FineReader 3.0, the ScanSnap S510 provides users compatibility with the latest software enhancements. One-button scanning to searchable PDF processes are supported, and users can even scan directly to Microsoft applications (such as Word and Excel). There's also a new multifunction quick menu feature for protecting and sharing documents with ease. In addition to the ability to scan business cards, the S510 can scan color pages in duplex at 18 pages per minute. Compatible with Windows 2000 Pro and later operating systems (including Vista), the scanner features a speedy USB 2.0 interface. For added convenience, its small footprint requires less space than a letter size piece of paper. Summary: great performance and value
Comment: I went from an HP scanner with document feeder - a device that took a huge footprint and gave less than perfect results, to this compact, quick, high quality output device with a footprint of about 5" x 11" and couldn't be any happier. I highly recommend this equipment.

Comment: What a great buy! We could not be any happier with a scanner than we are with this one. Works great - scans whatever we give it and the images are extremely clear. Rarely jams and even if it does it just pauses, we re-set the pages, and away it goes. Would highly recommend this machine to EVERYONE!

Summary: Well worth the price!
Comment: I work in real estate as an abstractor in Ohio. I had tons of files taking over my home office until I bought this scanner. An Attorney that I do some work for has 5 of these in his office and suggested I get one. I am so glad that I took his advice b/c this this thing has been a life savor! I wasn't crazy about the included software at first but have grown to like it. I have title work that sometimes includes copies over 100 pages long and this scanner has no problem handling the load. Other than an occasional jam, I have had no problems with this scanner. I would highly recommend this product to anyone interested.

Comment: I am happy to agree with the other positive reviews. This thing works! Hooked up to my new Thinkpad, it is a rocket with only one paper jam due to 2 pages stapled together (my bad) and 2 pages that simply refused to scan as 2.
Clearing paper jams is a snap and the software is intuitive without being annoying. Everything should work this well. I am going to buy a second one for my home. It does not replace a scanner for photographs, but for documents, bills, receipts, etc, it is perfect. It corrects skewed feeds and it almost always auto-rotates correctly - even when one sheet is vertical with the following sheet horizontal.
And one can set it for duplex (auto 2 sided scanning) or one sided simplex. When set to the former, it can be set to auto delete a blank page. When a multi-page scan has one sided and two sided pages mixed in - no problem - blank pages deleted.
All in all, a pleasure to use - well worth the price.
