Customer Rating: Summary: Rewarding set of programs Comment: Like many suites it's good to have a checklist and make sure all drivers are the latest. My monitor driver gave me some problems but I emailed customer support about not being able to see the photos in the slide show. Apparently it is a common enough problem and Roxio answered. Good customer support.
Once I could view photos and video properly I was able to make much progress. I recently got back from Yellowstone and had many pictures. The large landscape photos needed several snaps to get a complete picture. I like the ease of the panaroma photo in roxio. I was able to combine some graphics and text with the photos, and also the slideshow video version. This was much better than a random sequence, and more interesting to watch. My kids did some narration too and I added it to the slideshow. I was able to use the audio editor to clean up some hisses. There are a lot of things that make this a worthwhile program suite.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worth Every Penny Comment: I upgraded from media creator ver 9 running just fine, so I figured my system configuration was good to go.
There were no issues installing. (Took app 25min)
No issues creating a story board, but the system did lock up on rendering.
To correct I uninstalled Roxio and performed the following:
(Note: See manual removal directions on Roxio Website)
1. Download the latest BIOS Firmware.
1. Download the latest Video Drivers. (Most important)
2. Download the latest DirectX Drivers. (Ver 9)
Once all were brought current, I re-installed roxio and have not had
any problems since.
It was interesting to see all the bad reviews on this product and they
would referance everything else on there system worked fine.
I would just like to point out that video rendoring along with gaming is
more taxing on a system than most other aplications.
Bottom line bring your system current before installing the app and save
your self some time and agravation.
Remember to always backup before making any system changes.
Now lets make people laugh with some good editing...
Customer Rating: Summary: Bloated junk Comment: Looking for a good DVD/CD-Burning, video/audio editing software package? Keep browsing. Creator 10 is buggy as all-get-out in the Windows Vista operating environment. Starting up individual components (such as audio or video editing) will trigger automatic shut downs and reboots. DVD or CD writing is acceptable, but why pay such a lofty price when there are cheaper and even free programs out there to do the same work? The previous generation of Creator, including the last package I used on my older XP machine was admittedly decent--still buggy, but not on the level this version is. Maybe Vista has something to do with this. Regardless, for the money they are asking I expect an exceptional product. Purchase at your own risk, I highly recommend you keep looking for a more stable alternative. If you do choose to purchase this item then God be with you and best of luck!
Customer Rating: Summary: Still my fav choice Comment: With 9 I discovered how to get ahold of my tivo files and manage my devices. 10 has even more and it is still keep giving new programs. I've added an HD burner cause of the HD TV. 10 will burn the HD disks and even handle editing. I can do more with tivo files more easily. There are a few improvements to the video programs, most notably the overall color correction and soundtrack layer input. Putting music in the videos is much easier as this was just an ok feature in the last version. Audio capture now has a record prior to starting. Makes sense when you hear something you want but are late at clicking the capture button.
I did find a bit of trouble installing 10. Using Windows uninstall I removed 9, but 10 indicated that 9 was still there. I checked all the 9 programs and found one that was still there. Once I removed it 10 installed. I don't know if others had that problem but it was a simple fix.
Customer Rating: Summary: Overbuilt resource hog - AVOID THIS PRODUCT Comment: This program is enormous, and a terrible resource hog (strike one).
In addition, it modifies the computer's behavior, automatically setting itself to run various components at start-up (strike two), not to mention installing a "user account" (strike three).
When I inquired of their tech support why it requires its own user account, I got nothing but double-talk.
I do NOT like programs that tamper with my computer's settings and behavior. That is bad, bad business.
A complete waste of money.
