The Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Filter 4396510 is a new and improved filter that replaces 4392922 - the 4396510 removes additional impurities. This filter fits Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Kenmore refrigerators where the filter is located in the base grill. It can be used to replace the following part numbers: Whirlpool 4392922, Kitchenaid 4396164 & 4396548, Kenmore 46-9902, 46-9908, & 2203980 (or any Kenmore filter where the refrigerator model number starts with 106 AND the filter is located in the base grill - these refrigerators are made for Kenmore by Whirlpool). It does not fit fridges with the recently introduced "push-button" style in-grill filters. It improves the taste and odor of the water and removes: 97.6% of Chlorine, 99.9% of Particulates (Class I: 0.5 to 1 Micron), 99.35% of Lead at pH 6.5, 99.31% of Lead at pH 8.5, 96.7% of Mercury at pH 6.5, 91.2% of Mercury at pH 8.5, 96.3% of Benzene, 99.7% of p-dichlorobenzene, 92.96% of Toxaphene, 85.6% of Atrazine, 93.06% of 2,4-D, 99.93% of Asbestos, 99.99% of Cysts, 99.3% of Turbidity. It Does Not Remove Flouride. Whirlpool recommends that you replace the filter every 6 months OR when the filter change indicator light comes on OR if the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks OR if you notice a decrease in the flow of water or objectionable tastes in the water or ice.

Comment: I had a good experience with this vendor. I recommned this product. I have had problems with other filters leaving an after-taste in the water even a few days after installing it. That has not been the case with these filters. Water tastes good immediately after installing the filter.
