Editorial Reviews:

Oh, what a story. Frankie Valli, who came to fame in 1962 as the lead singer of the Four Seasons, is hotter than ever in the 21st century. Thanks to the volcanic success of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys, which chronicles the life and times of Frankie and his legendary group, such classic songs as "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man," "Rag Doll," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" are all the rage all over again. As the play enters its third sold-out year on Broadway, and two touring companies of Jersey Boys travel around the U.S., the real Frankie Valli is packing concert halls coast to coast, from the Rose Theater, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, to L.A.'s Kodak Theater, home of the Academy Awards.

Now Frankie salutes the decade that made him a star with his first new studio album in 15 years. In "Romancing The '60s", he puts his own stamp on some of his favorite '60s songs, the ones he always wanted to record but somehow got away.

Summary: Hopefully More Covers To Come
Comment: One of the masters of the Babyboom generation, though a little older than the rest of us. For his age, Valli does a reasonable job on this album. Even the great Sinatra lost his voice when he was about Valli's age. Age and voice criticism aside, he does a reasonable cover of these classic rock standards. Personally, I would like to see him cover some the doo-wop classics from the 1950's and early 1960's. I think he might excel at some of those old standards, him being from the East Coast and all. "When You Tell Me Good-Bye", "Let It BE Me", "My Girl/Groovin(My # 1 favorite cut)", "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted" and "On Broadway" are my favorite cuts. I'm in hopes this will be not be all we hear from him concerning covering old favs from the past. Bob Gaudio, the true genius behind the Four Seasons, has once-again done a masterful job of vocal arranging. Musical arranger's and conductor's Artie Schroeck and Charles Calello are to be commended as well.

Summary: Ageless
Comment: You don't have to be a Frankie Valli fan to enjoy this CD.
It is a wonderful example of the art of Frankie, combined with the production skills of Bob Gaudio.
An absolute listening treasure. May there be more to come.

Summary: Terrible
Comment: I can't even get through the entire album. Sounds nothing like the Frankie Valli that I enjoy. I wouldn't even give it one star if I wasn't forced to.

Comment: Good CD of Franki Valli, not as good as the "Jersey Boys" but good for Valli fans.

Summary: Frankie Valli: Still Fantastic
Comment: Frankie Valli was the first musician I ever got into. I remember being 4 years old and sneaking down to the basement so I could play my Dad's records. Everytime I found myself reaching for my Dad's four record set of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and sitting there for hours enjoying myself to no end. Now at 25 years old, I get to hear my first musical hero come back to the music scene with a new album of classics. It is fantastic to hear this man, now in his '70's, with virtually no studio enhancments sound as good as he does. To the diehard fans, you will love this.

To those who think this is dissapointing or that it sucks, I think you need to go back and really listen to the record. If you're a true fan, you can find delight in this.

To the REAL fans...Buy this. It's fantastic.
