Comment: I absolutely LOVE this thermometer! I have taken my BBT in the past and wondered if I had it placed right (in my state of being half-awake taking my temperature). This thermometer beeps when it is in the right place, so I know I am using it accurately. It is great! I got pregnant the first month monitoring my temperature with it!

Summary: Much better than my previous thermometer
Comment: I use Billings method NFP, but also temp to confirm ovulation as my signs can be confusing at times. I was using a store-brand digital thermometer when I first started charting, and kept wondering why my temps were always so low. THEN, I lost that piece of junk and bought the BD. It is way faster and more accurate - and I have no problems now. I like the bright backlight and the "beeps." Only thing is, the beeps may be loud enough to disturb a sleeping spouse. Just something to keep in mind if your husband is a light sleeper! I also wish the backlight would stay on while the thermometer is taking your temperature.

Summary: Works with noise
Comment: I like the concept of a beeping thermometer that makes sure you have it in the correct position, but when you're reading your "waking" temp and your husband is asleep next to you, and you'd rather do it in peace and then sleep a few minutes more after you're done...well, this thermometer doesn't want that.
I've rigged mine so it's quieter now. After I figured out the best way of doing that, well, sheesh, I love it!

Summary: can't rate the item because a generic was received
Comment: I ordered the BD Basil thermometer because I have heard that they are pretty accurate, but instead received a generic theremometer which I could have bought anywhere. I was pretty upset and sent 2 emails to the vendor about returning the thing and asked why I received a generic, but the vendor never responded. It seems like I have been holding on to this thing for months waiting to be returned. Amazon was nice enough to give me a credit for it but the vendor never gave me return instructions.
In my opinion, I would not order from American Drug Supply store...
