The Bose® Computer MusicMonitorTM was developed for the growing number of people who use their computers for personal entertainmentand want accurate, detailed sound from an elegant yet unobtrusive system.
Until now, high quality desktop sound with deep, realistic low tones has come only from large speakers or a three-piece system with a bass module. Our new MusicMonitor is an alternative for serious listeners who prefer a two-piece solution offering performance, simplicityand more desktop space.
This unexpected sound quality is made possible by combining the latest in switching amplifier technology with new, proprietary acoustic design, highly efficient neodymium speakers and Bose digital signal processing.
Together, these technologies allow the MusicMonitorTM to deliver accurate, full-range sound surprising for its sizeless than 5" high and only 2½" wide.
The MusicMonitorTM is also pleasing to the eye, with solid aluminum casing and a metallic silver finish. Its understated elegance fits nicely almost anywhere in your home.
Try the Bose Computer MusicMonitorTM for streaming audio and downloads from your laptop or PC, or movies from a portable DVD player. We think you'll find its performance hard to believe from a system this small.

Customer Rating: Summary: BOSE BASHER? THANK YOU Comment: PHILOSOPHY:
1) RECORDED MUSIC IS MEANT TO BE HEARD FROM TWO SPEAKERS, STRATEGICALLY PLACED EAR-LEVEL FRONT/SIDE..NOT FROM THE FLOOR OR BEHIND.
2) VOCALS ARE OTHER PEOPLES PROBLEMS SET TO RHYTHM..GET RID OF THEM.
3) SIZE DOES NOT MATTER..TONE AND BALANCE DO.
4) IF YOU ENJOY WHAT YOU BUY, THE PRICE IS SOON FORGOTTEN.
TO SUMMARIZE: COMPUTER SPEAKERS BEST FOR INSTRUMENTAL/ CLASSICAL MUSIC PLAYED AT LOW TO MODERATE VOULME..SYNTHESIZED CONTEMPORARY INSTRUMENTALS ARE IDEAL...
MY CREDENTIALS: TWO CD'S FOR SALE ON AMAZON
(p.s...if there's a bose outlet store available, you can get 10% off on a factory refurbished unit, probably one returned by a bose basher, thank you...at the rehoboth, DE mall store there is no tax and also a coupon for another 10%..bottom line $325.)
Customer Rating: Summary: Inferior to the BOSE Companion 2 series. Comment: This fact wouldn't be as insulting if those speakers weren't 1/4 the price of the ones I'm now reviewing. I bought the Music Monitor units to compare and possibly replace the Companion 2 speakers that I currenly own. Disappointment set in immediately upon opening the box. These speakers both look and sound cheap. If you removed the Bose name plate, I would have surmised they had cost 25 dollars, perhaps 30. I connected the Music Monitor units to the same PC as my 99 dollar Bose speakers and assure you in both looks and sound the Companion 2's blow these suckers out of the water. To add insult to injury, the Music Monitor product doesn't offer a second connection to another audio source such as an MP3 player. The kicker is, the Companion 2 does offer this second connection option. Judgement? Due to vastly superior sound, increased versatility, and dramatically improved aesthetics this buyer stuck with the Bose Companion 2 series and sent the embarrassing Music Monitor step-cousin back to BOSE for a full refund. What a joke of a product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awful Comment: Don't!
Weak sound
Non-existent sound imaging. Most of the sound came from the left speaker... Doesn't even feel like listening to stereo music.
Way over priced at 400 dollars!
Worth less than 50 dollars
My $80 creative T20 sounds way better.
Customer Rating: Summary: Small, Simple, Loud makes for Good Sound @ This Size Comment: As is usually the case BOSE products are pricey, they always have been and for the most part you are getting a superior product especially in the upper end of home entertainment. Whenever I have contacted BOSE for tech support they have been very nice and very knowledgable and were always able to rectify any issue.
I took out these little titans and connected to my Sony Vaio FZ Blue-Ray laptop. Set them equal distance on each side of the laptop and first tried playing a couple of different blue-ray movies. Sound was quite good to say the least considering there is no sub-woofer. However, you can't fairly compare them to such. These are a 2 speaker compact system, no sub. They have integrated some bass into these tiny metal buggers.
I went onto music and tried AC/DC to Sinatra to Manilow and down to Reba McIntyre for varied types of music and all sounded fine to me on these little guys. Honestly you are not getting the 7 channel sound of which I get on my Onkyo home theatre system and you should NOT expect such.
These speakers are met to be close to the laptop and for you to sit in front of them for best performance, but in saying that I did walk up to 30 feet away and they sounded ok and would be great to play music in the background at a party inside or out in the backyard. Remember these are met for better sound and they are much better than any of the awful speakers that come in all the laptops these days. These speakers have a loud volume and I did not notice distortion with a higher volume, however, I did not leave it up long as I don't like it too loud personally.
As others have said it may require some fine tuning on your own, SRS, WOW, equilizer settings on your machines will make a wide variation on the sound output. We all have very different hearing and very different tastes to the sounds we like or how we hear the music we listen too.
When dropping this kind of money you MUST get out to a local electronics store and test all the ones you are interested in, listen to them all and bring your own favorites, any store should allow you to do that to hear what the various speakers sound like. Make sure to be fair in your comparisons. Testing the Bose 2 speaker Music Monitor system should only be compared to other 2 speaker systems. Test speakers with sub-woofers with other similar systems to be fair and for you to choose what best suits you in sound as well as your space contraints.
These speakers could also be used for your desktop or use with ipod as well as other mp3 players. Would have been nice if they had a wireless version of these, they probably will at some point in the future. The power cord does have a small "brick" (transformer)plug wire to your outlet.
Mine came with a really nice carrying case which has compartments for each speaker and the wires and plug. Small wireless remote is also included. Very compact and easy to travel with as that is another selling point of traveling with your laptop and bringing along your small speakers to enjoy music, movies while traveling.
Customer Rating: Summary: OK Speakers Comment: With their latest entry, it is obvious that Bose is following the same pricing policy as with their headphones.
In short, price them as high as possible. The customer will think he's getting a first-rate product. And one is less likely to criticize that for which one has paid dearly.
