Summary: Great Asus motherboard, as usual.
Comment: This mobo rocks as an entry base multimedia server, that's the use I am putting it through. The manual is comprehensive, the specs work, and it's rock stable. I don't overclock so I can't comment on that (sorry folks :)). Now sure there are mobos with the newest chipset, but I venture that for most users, this "age" of mothers will deliver about 3 years of joy.
The instructions are written in English, unlike other quality brands like Gigabyte. And yes, the tiny sound board's "light" on it definitely looks cool :).
As the other user states, update the BIOS, please. The SATAs work fine, always detecting the updates in HDs I frequently do.
It's an Asus, man :)!

Summary: Very good board, once updated
Comment: I have had this board running since December 2007, and works OK for the most part. I received it with BIOS 0107 (I think) and so far the latest BIOS is 0702.

Works very nicely on Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate with a Q6600 and 2 GB or RAM. Everything except the hard disk is rated 5.9 (the HDD rates 5.6). I haven't OC'ed yet, but will do so soon enough.

Let's talk functionality now. The BIOS is very simple to update. You can update using a Windows application, or you can update downloading the file to a USB stick. The USB stick will be accessible via the BIOS, something pretty cool, I'd say.

Where this board loses the star is the included software. I bet most of you run your Vista/XP computers with full admin rights (shame on you all, collecting virus and spyware), but I don't. I run my computer as a standard user. The thing is: This software requires admin privileges to run, and it is understandable, but ASUS needs to think their software better. For example, they could develop a Windows service (that will run with admin privileges) that is capable of doing all the modifications the current end-user software can make, and then make the end-user software as a front end of that service. This way, I don't have to type username/password of an Admin account every time I boot up or every time I run the AI Suite or other ASUS software.

The software is also cumbersome to use. Example: QFan can control 2 fans: The chassis fan, and the processor fan. In order to enable it, a restart is required. Fine. But I have to restart immediately after activating one of the fans, and that means that I also have to restart to activate the other fan!! Crazy, I know. The software should give me the opportunity of enabling both fans before restarting my computer!!

If you visit the product's page @ asus.com, you'll see a lot of features listed, but it is unclear to you how to use them all, and some are mutually exclusive, something also understandable, but poorly documented IMHO. I plan to take a couple of vacation days just to figure out how to use the whole thing. :S

Finally, I also noted something odd just today: The AI Suite software reports a voltage of 2.55 V to my memory!! That is 0.4 V higher that what I set it to be in the BIOS. If it is true that the voltage is 2.55 V, that means I am frying my memory. I currently use OCZ, which is a very good brand, but what if I were using cheaper modules? I bet cheap modules would have fried already. I hope to get this clear with ASUS support between today and tomorrow.

Overall, the board is great, it unleashes the power of my components, and I enjoy the Windows Vista experience a lot (yes! I DO LIKE Windows Vista!).

Summary: Good product
Comment: Ok... this product is good i bet! Its ASUS. ive been using asus boards for like forever! but unfortunately i bought this one not doin my research first. Be careful this motherboard only supports crossfire configuration NOT SLI... it doesn't say in the specs here in amazon but im pretty sure your sli ready nvidia cards will be useless on this one :) that's why i returned it.. annnd thats the only reason i gave it 4 stars! for the hassle on returning and getting the right board for me.
