Need a hard-working desktop printer you can rely on? With features never before available in a personal HP LaserJet, the P1505 series is ideal for producing effective business communications. Surprisingly fast!Be more productive with professional print speeds up to 24 pages per minute (ppm) and a quick first page out. Other printers need time to warm up before printing the first page, but with no-wait Instant-on Technology your first page will print in half the time. New, patented spherically shaped toner is specially designed for consistent, high-quality results at fast speeds. For even greater cost efficiency, share the P1505n printer with more than one person. This model comes with basic integrated networking capability and PCL5e support, so you can quickly and easily connect as many as five users. The 250-sheet adjustable main tray provides ample paper volume for an individual or small work team.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great and fast printer Comment: I had an HP 5L, which was a stinkin' pile of.... Printed great, but it had the dreaded feeder problems all the 5L/6L models had.
This one seems to work great, starts up fast, seems well made.
I use a Belkin 10 ft USB cable with no problems with the length. Installation was easy.
Just a tip for installation with no instructions included: do not connect the USB cable until the software on the CD prompts it. i.e. connect the power, get all the packing material out, and shake the cartidge, then put the CD in the PC.
Customer Rating: Summary: Mac user? AVOID. Comment: Just wanted to echo what other reviewers have indicated. As of July 29, 2008, this printer is NOT compatible with Mac. My company bought it for me several months ago; it worked fine for awhile, but last week it suddenly stopped, and after a little research I discovered that this is a problem going back months. Updating the driver didn't solve the problem, and I've just about torn what's left of my hair out and wasted an entire morning trying to deal with the robo-call system at HP.
Customer Rating: Summary: 3 weeks in, no problems so far. Comment: One of those few times, I didn't get the product with the most features. I am so glad I didn't, it is one of favorite electronic purchases. So fast, so efficient.
I set up with 3 different computers over a network. They say it takes 6 seconds to wake up and start printing. I feel like it is faster or maybe I am just used to much slower printers.
Color printing is so overrated, when I print photographs, I take my pics to the store. For everything else, I use this printer. I write quite a lot and this is the perfect printer for writer.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice little printer Comment: This printer is an excellent value; it's compact, fast, and has great print quality. Other users commented that it is noisy; we use it in a quiet environment and don't find it noisy at all.
Customer Rating: Summary: As a Windows printer, great, but will not work with Macs Comment: First off, beware that this is NOT your basic desktop printer for the average user. This thing is very noisy in a clattering plastic sort of way. It's fast. It does a good job. It just makes too much noise to position next to you on the desk.
Now, back to the main review...
As of this writing, the P1505N is *not* compatible with Mac OS X, regardless of what the HP documentation tells you. Printing from Mac OS X creates all kinds of errors and most of the time just plain doesn't work, regardless of source document (PDF, Word, text, etc.). Doesn't matter if you print via USB or Ethernet. Fails either way.
Had I been smart, I would have checked the Apple support forums prior to buying, but I wasn't smart. There are a ton of complaints on the support forums about these problems and the fact that HP has yet to address them.
The worst part? HP lists the printer as Mac compatible. Wha? Just what Mac did they test this on?
Luckily for me I can use this printer for Windows users in my company. It's fine for that. Keep in mind, though, that while the printer is fast, the toner cartridge is small and will have to be replaced quickly if your group is printing a great deal. Your per-page cost will be pretty high if you use it for more than about 1,000 pages per month. Above that, you should move to a more expensive printer with greater capacity and lower per-page costs.
My advice for Mac OS X buyers -- avoid HP printers that cost less than $1,500. Above that line and the printers kick butt and are fully Mac compatible.
