Pat Buchanan is sounding the alarm. Since 9/11, more than four million illegal immigrants have crossed our borders, and there are more coming every day. Our leaders in Washington lack the political will to uphold the rule of law. The Melting Pot is broken beyond repair, and the future of our nation is at stake. In this important book, Pat Buchanan reveals that, slowly but surely, the great American Southwest is being reconquered by Mexico. These lands---which many Mexicans believe are their birthright---are being detached ethnically, linguistically, and culturally from the United States by a deliberate policy of the Mexican regime. This is the “Aztlan Plot” for “La Reconquista,” the recapture of the lands lost by Mexico in the Texas War of Independence and Mexican-American War. Comparing the immigrant invasion of America from across the Mexican border---and of Europe from across the Mediterranean---to the barbarian invasions that ended the Roman Empire, the author writes with passion and conviction that we have begun the final chapter of the Death of the West. Unless the invasion is halted now, Buchanan argues, by midcentury America will be a country unrecognizable to our parents, the Third World dystopia that Theodore Roosevelt warned against when he said we must never let America become a “polyglot boardinghouse” for the world. President Bush’s failure to halt the invasion and secure America’s border, Buchanan writes, is a dereliction of constitutional duty that, in other times, would have called forth articles of impeachment. In the final chapter, “Last Chance,” he lays out a sweeping immigration reform and border security plan, which, he contends, if not pursued, means George W. Bush’s legacy will be to have lost for America a Southwest that was the legacy of Sam Houston, Andrew Jackson, and James K. Polk. With an estimated ten to fifteen million “illegals” already here and tens of millions more poised to pour across our borders, few books could be as timely---or important---as State of Emergency. It is essential reading for all Americans.

Customer Rating: Summary: GREAT TOOL FOR ARGUMENT!!! Comment: I bought this book because of all the great reviews and was not disappointed. I really enjoyed a lot of the history in this book and it has been a great tool for argument on illegal immigration.
God Bless People like Patrick Buchanan
Customer Rating: Summary: Is it all over but the Funeral? Comment: Buchanan may just be writing the most important books concerning the collapse of Western Civilization----but who is listning?
He spelled out in chapter and verse,what was taking place in the Western World,in his book "Death of the West",in October,2002.Once again ,he shows that the West is continuing its march to oblivion,and even shows that it will be ,for all intents and purposes,completed by as soon as 2050.If you think that is so far off,just look back the same number of years to 1960 and compare things to today;
1960 2008
World Population 3 Billion 6 Billion
Caucasian 750 Million ( 25%) Now 8%
Pop.USA 180 Million 300 Million
Pop of Asian & Hispanic
in US 5 Million 57 Million (12-20 Mil.
Ill.Aliens) There are now 36 million immigrants in The USA,almost as many as between
1600 and 1960 and of which 90% are from countries who have never assimilated into any western country, and all this against the will of the vast majority of Americans; in spite of the government stating that the demographics of the country would not nor would it be permitted to change.
If you are wondering why a Canadian would be concerned about this;the reason is simple.
The same changes ,and probably even to a greater extent, are taking place in Canada. There is one major difference.Although there are by no mass migrations of Illegals (this is assumed,as there is no person like Buchanan writing about it,and the Government has been promoting and implementing a policy of Multiculturalism for as long as has the US.) But ,make no mistake about it,the changes in the makeup of the population is the same.
As Buchanan points out ,the same has happened in Europe but even to a greater degree. In fact,he aptly demonstrates ,that Europe has already reached the state where it is unable and unwilling to do anything about the problems it has produced.
An indication of how deep seated this "State of Emergency" has become,
is the fact that while it is well recognized ,it has not even been an issue at the 2008 Democratic or Republican Conventions.
If you really want to and dare to look into why and how the demographics of the West are changing, why neither political party wants to address the problems;and what is likely to be the result of these changes;there is no better source to turn to that this and other books by this author.
I suggest, as the years quickly proceed;the great question will be;"Why was Buchanan not listened to?"
Politically Correct or not,Buchanan's books and ideas may well prove to be some of the most fortelling about what happened to Western Civilization.
Customer Rating: Summary: State of Emergency Comment: Patrick Buchanan's readable style and straightforward approach to a difficult problem, makes this book outstanding in its field. His use of commonly accepted statistics, historical trends and today's headlines assures the reader that they are on solid ground. As usual Mr. Buchanan is a bellwether of common sense and the ideals of our Founding Fathers. Immigration IS the issue of our times.
Customer Rating: Summary: Buchanan Comment: I purchased this book for Fathers' day for my husband. I have not read the book yet,but my husband liked it very much.
Customer Rating: Summary: We had better pay attention Comment: Buchanan has a total grasp on world politics. His warnings are solid and the USA must not ignore them if we are to survive as a free nation. The demographic shift that is happening as you read this is real.
