With the Apple iPod touch, Apple has married the iPhone's revolutionary multi-touch interface to their popular digital media player. So instead of a Click Wheel, you just use your fingers to flick through your music, photos, and video. Two fingers can be used in a pinching or spreading motion as well, which zooms in and out of photos and web pages. That's right, the iPod touch is the first iPod to offer web access. It does this via built-in Wi-Fi support. There's even a special iTunes Wi-Fi Store, so you can browse and purchase new music and video while you're on the road. The latest iPod touch now offers a suite of new applications, including email, maps, and handy widgets for weather, notes, and stocks. The new iPod touch also features a customizable home screen that lets you rearrange buttons and create your own Web Clips. Ports - Dock Connector & Stereo Minijack Connects to a PC or Mac through USB (using the dock connector) 802.11b/g Wi-Fi Wireless / Safari web browser Charge Time - about 3 hours (1.5 hours fast charge to 80% capacity) Audio Support - AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, & 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, & AIFF Photo Support - Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats Video Support - H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats Unit Dimensio

Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Comment: I am a techie challenged older woman and this is one of the niftiest gadgets ever. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a "getting started" manual, so I had to solicit help from some younger friends to get going. It takes some practice to figure out how things work but I'm having great fun as I plod along. Once you get the basics, it's pretty easy and intuitive. The email and internet feature is brilliant so you can stay in touch wherever there's WiFi. I also bought a Bose portable Sound Dock, so I can carry it down to the pool and hear my music with no effort at all. I'm all set!
Customer Rating: Summary: Cool, cool, cool product Comment: The iPod Touch is awesome. I got the 32GB version. So far it contains 1900+ songs, 100+ photos, and 30+ videos. All of that and I still have 20GB available!
My only gripes...
<> While listening to music, the battery dies in less than 5 hours.
<> Only videos from iTunes can be imported.
<> The world doesn't have enough WiFi access points!
The maps feature would be way cooler if you could save searches or access a cache or history of searches. Without more WiFi hot spots, it's mostly just a feature that's fun to play with.
For an average user, the 8GB or 16GB model is probably more than enough. I had an Amazon.com gift card to defray the cost, so I went all out for the big boy.
It obviously depends upon your usage habits, but since I travel on a regular basis, I highly recommend getting chargers. I got a set at Walmart made by Griffin. For $50, it includes both a car charger and an AC (wall) charger.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great User interface - easy to use Comment: Wonderful for traveling with 2 kids - for movies. It is great. The user interface is easy to use and very well done.
Customer Rating: Summary: Product did not work Comment: Was very dissapointed with this product. Could not load the Itouch from Itunes, and every time I attempted the unit screen would go into a reboot cycle and the screen would flicker. The unit also got very hot.
For $450 you would think Apple would individually test these before shipment. I sent mine back immediately after purchase for a refund. I would not buy this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: fun ipod Comment: Hello, well I got this ipod for my birthday and it's totally awesome. A computer and music all in one. I take it everywhere I go, can plug it into my computer at work for music. Can read emails and surf the net where I go. Get directions, use a calendar for reminders, etc etc. It's really fantastic. I fit every picture and every song off my computer (7,000 pictures and 2,000 songs) and had plenty of room to spare. You should get one, it's a blast!
