The ATI TV Wonder HD 650 Combo USB TV tuner loads your system with a complete set of media abilities, transforming your PC or notebook into the ultimate entertainment system. The tuner is flexible enough to be used with either your laptop or desktop PC, and is a great complement for watching TV in Windows Media Center. Attach an amplified high definition antenna or your analog TV cable and you can watch, pause, or record high definition TV on your PC. Even analog TV is made brilliant by the advanced 3D Comb Filter that produces a high-end television and video content experience with true-to-life images. The Motion Adaptive 3D Comb Filter, Edge Enhancement and Noise Reduction work together to produce an ultra sharp, pure image that rivals high-end TV sets.Your ATI TV Wonder 650 is a high-speed USB device that lets you enjoy over the air digital (ATSC) TV broadcasts on your laptop or PC computer. You can also receive analog (NTSC) broadcasts by connecting your home's TV cable line or external antenna to your ATI TV Wonder 650.

Customer Rating: Summary: not a very good product Comment: I cannot say I enjoy this product, especially software package - constantly hangs my machine, almost never shuts down on its own, so I have to restart my box by just switching the power off???
Apart from that I was able to capture video from my camcorder. Also, only using ATI supplied software which is total garbage. I could not capture videos using any other product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not ready for prime time Comment: I tested someone else's ATI TV Wonder 650 USB... and I say stay away from this drek.
First, it has two ports, CATV/FM and DTV... but to watch over-the-air (antenna) digital broadcasts and cable digital channels... you'll have to attach one -or- the other to the DTV port... then you'll have to rescan channels (takes a long time sometimes) every time you switch... even with an A/B box, this is not good. They should have made an antenna port and a cable port... and then scanned for whatever (analog and digital) was available on the antenna, and whatever was on cable. Instead, if you want to watch analog cable, you attach to CATV/FM... if you want to watch digital cable, you detach from CATV/FM and attach to DTV. Same for antenna... analog channels, hook to CATV/FM... digital, detach and hook to DTV. (The coming digital tv mandate does -not- apply to 'low power' TV stations... so some TV stations will always be analog.)
I have a Westinghouse 26" flat panel TV, that I use with my PC... I just hook antenna (or cable) to the TV's single coax port... and the TV scans for both analog and digital channels. Duh. Unfortunately, our digital cable doesn't carry -all- the local Over-The-Air (antenna) digital channels. But, the Westinghouse TV picks up all the basic unscrambled digital cable channels (without the cable 'box') and displays just fine. However, the ATI TV Wonder 650 USB is able to scan for unscrambled digital cable channels (without the 'box'), but acts like it's getting 'poor over-the-air reception' when it displays them... can't keep from pixellating the display... (I'm using a USB 2.0 port) ...this ATI thing ain't ready for prime time... either in display quality or port logic.
And now I can't find where to un-install the software, Catalyst Media Center... the 'uninstall manager' would only let me uninstall the Avivo video converter component, not the whole software... and there's no entry in Control Panel, Programs... to uninstall Catalyst Media Center. I'll have to manually delete folders and edit the registry it seems.
Try an Hauppauge... I've had good luck with their analog products in the past.

Customer Rating: Summary: Waste of Money on a PRE-2007 PC Comment: This device is not worth it on a PRE-2008 PC.
First of all: Read the shortcoming details. It's HD Antenna. Not HD Cable. If you live in a house already supplied with Cable it's not your tuner.
Second: There are no HD Cable tuners out there except with a 2008 Certified Manufacturer PC.
Third: The tuner fritzes out now and then so it's not good to use against a PRE-2008 computer.
