Customer Rating: Summary: Excellet performance for the price Comment: I bought two of these for SLI mode, my system specs -
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (Overclocked to 2.68GHz)
Mother Board Asus P5NSLI
RAM Crucial DDR2 533 (Overclocked to 600MHz)
Hard Drives 2 Western Digital 80GB RAID 0
Power Supply ULTRA 700W Modular Power Supply
Previously I was using two 7600GT cards in SLI mode, after Call of Duty 4 came out it was time for an upgrade :-)
Pros -
Price
Warranty
90 Day trade up program
Fairly Low power requiremnts
Low fan noise
Single Slot design (this is a plus for me as my case is a bit on the small side)
Do not generate too much heat (Ditto)
Overclocked by the Factory :-)
Cons
These cards are long, I had to re-arrange my hard drives when I installed them.
Now I can run all my favourite games at 1280x960 or 1280x1024 with all the details turned up :-)
Call of Duty 4 (absolutely amazing game, runs amazingly well on these cards)
First Encounter Assult Recon (F.E.A.R / F.E.A.R. XP / F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate)
Portal (Uses the Half-Life 2 engine)
Far Cry (an oldie but a goodie)
Quake 3 Arena
Gears of War (Runs superbly)
Unreal Tournament 3 (Simply amazing)
Also does well with the only RTS games I play -
Warcraft III - The Forzen Throne
Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War & Winter Assult
If you're buying one card, make sure that your power supply has the 6pin PCI-E power connector, for SLI make sure your supply is SLI rated and has the power connectors for both cards.
Keep in mid you may have to move you hard drive / drives to allow the cards to fit.
Also, be sure to register your card or cards online at the EVGA website for warranty purposes.
If these are out of your budget, get a couple of the 8800GS cards by XFX they are not quite as fast, but are cheaper.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good but you should go for the 9800gt Comment: I just bought this card and it runs really well. But for a little more you can buy the 9800gt and get significant performance gain. I returned this card and bought the 9800gt.
This website has an excellent review of the card. http://elektronikworld.blogspot.com/2008/09/9800gt-review.html
Should tell you everything you need to know about the card.
Customer Rating: Summary: Flawed, but should be fixed by now Comment: I needed a card for a budget gaming computer, to go with my Pentium D. It looked like a good choice, and it was...
I've got it running on a 305W supply fine, minimum recommended is 400W. Really happy with the performance, 1280*1024 and XP can max out settings on all source games, gears of war, bioshock etc..
However, the problems started when I tried playing Team Fortress, got the black screen of death issue. If you're ordering now, it should be fixed, but its the only reason its getting a 3 star instead of 5.
Buy this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wrong Card Comment: I'm not sure how this happened I ordered the 9600 GT Superclocked 512mb DDR3 PCI-E 2.0 and they sent me the 8800gt of the same type instead. Just from the reviews i think the GT is more expensive then this card what i don't know is if the 8800 GT is better or not.
Customer Rating: Summary: big mistake Comment: I am returning it. After using it for not even a month, my computer started shutting down suddenly and showing a major error. When I disabled the card, it works fine. Be careful before buying it!
