Customer Rating: Summary: Hideaway Comment: Sorry I am slow in responding (Family death) - but you were very quick in your delivery and I certainly appreciate all you do.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Talent Comment: Newly discovered, Deb Talan, and The Weepies. I am a new (60yo) fan, and discovered her from an NPR interview. Highly recommend this contemporary music.
Customer Rating: Summary: Evocative yet unique Comment: This may be my shortest review on Amazon. I heard of the Weepies based on their input in Mandy Moore's Wild Hope, an album that I love. So it's no surprise that I've been quite pleased by Hideaway. It's a little quieter overall (thematically) than I trend toward, but it's great for chilling, listening to while working, or more introspective moments. I definitely agree with the comments about the quality of the songwriting; I'm particularly reminded of Simon & Garfunkel, only with a more modern and feminine sensibility.
Customer Rating: Summary: My Newest Happy Place- Hideaway Comment: The Weepies make my heart happy and this CD lives up to my expectations! From happy to calm to lonely and thoughtful, this album is fit for Saturday errands, a run by the shore or a romantic dinner at home. Be prepared to sing along, rinse and repeat!
Customer Rating: Summary: What a wonderful sound... Comment: The Weepies follow "Say I Am You" (one of the best albums of 2006) with "Hideaway." It continues the duo's trademark sound--hushed, ethereal vocals, lyrics that use metaphor and analogy to reference a wide range of topics, and understated, gorgeous production. The music is acoustic-based with deft touches of electric guitar scattered throughout. There's even a surprising little pop-rocker at the end. "All This Beauty" is a great kicker to a polished, heartfelt project. If you like groups like the Kennedys, you will swoon for the Weepies and "Hideaway."
