Customer Rating: Summary: The Wilson Sisters can still bring it... Comment: Ann's voice is as strong as ever and Nancy still looks cute as she jumps up and down while strumming power chords! ;)
This is a great performance with strong picture quality and excellent sound quality. One of the bad things about the HD DVD - Blu Ray war was picking a side and having titles released exclusively in the format you didn't own. This was originally released on HD DVD and I was able to catch the show on HD Net. I knew that I'd add it to my collection once it was released on blu ray.
This has a good set list with a little Led Zeppelin thrown in too. This is a must for die hard Heart fans and for others who'd like to add a Heart concert disc to their collection.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not much of an upgrade from SDVD Comment: I bought this as an upgrade to the stardard version on Dvd i owned. I thought it would be a huge upgrade considering all the great reviews. I loved this performance however if you own it on reg dvd its not worth the upgrade. save your money. the audio quality is no better than regular DTS.
the picture quality is only slightly better.
Customer Rating: Summary: Alive.... and still kicking Comment: Well, despite the passage of the years, the voice is still there. A few of the tracts, Barracuda in particular, raised the hairs on my neck just like when I was in speeding down some Virginia country road many years ago. Worth the price of admission.
Customer Rating: Summary: Musical excellence! Comment: I was wondering if it was a good idea to buy a DVD of a reunion concert of a band which was famous twenty years ago. So many bands and publishers are are presenting us with total rubbish, as long as they can have something on DVD. My fondness of Heart won me over and I got the DVD. And I am so glad I did!
This DVD is high quality, from beginning to end and is obviously not just a "reunion concert".
The live show must have been spectacular, as the Wilson sisters still have what it takes, in abundance. The show was filmed in the Paramount in Seattle in front of a home crowd, and it shows. The editors really captured the crowd's dedication and enthusiasm very well, and the interaction between audience and band is great.
The band in itself is also great and deliver a flawless performance. The sisters were in top form and obviously having the time of their lives up there. Anne Wilson delivered a dynamite performance which, during numbers like "Mistral Wind" were nothing short of monumental. Nancy Wilson, although much more understated, showed, yet again, why the Wilson sisters have built up such a formidable reputation and following over the years, as they are truly masters of their craft.
The selection is also commendable. They seem to have struck an ideal balance between old staples, new compositions and covers (of Elton John and Led Zeppelin). And, the new stuff is GOOD! All the obvious choices (Barracuda, Magic Man, Dog and Butterfly) are also included.
One thing which fascinates me, is how Nancy Wilson's whole demeanor changes with each instrument she plays - to see how she becomes more romantic playing acoustic instruments, bubbly when she straps on a Telecaster and almost dangerous when she starts slinging her Gibson SG around! Very intersting.
Make no mistake: watching this DVD will bring on the nostalgia, BIG TIME!
This DVD is a must for every Heart fan. If you are not a Heart fan, this is the PERFECT place to start!
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Concert DVD yet! Comment: I have to agree, although I didn't receive my copy on Blu-Ray yet, I saw this concert on HD-DVD several times and it is my favorite Concert DVD so far. I hope the sound on Blu-Ray is as good (or better) than it was on HD-DVD. A must have!
