Customer Rating: Summary: Great Home Theater PC video card for BluRay/Vista Comment: I upgraded to this from an ATi HD 2400 Pro card. I had a few requirements for a video card for my home theater pc, 1) HDCP Compliant HDMI 2) 1080p full screen playback 3) 5.1 surround sound pass thru to the HDMI.
My previous card although advertised as HDCP compliant wasn't. So i picked this one hoping for the best. I plugged it into my Vista Ultimate powered HTPC , i already had the ATi Catalyst 8.5 drivers installed from my previous card, it just required a bit of reconfiguring and a reboot. Then I was set. Cyberlink BluRay advisor gave all green lights for passing the requirements. So i dropped in a BluRay movie and fired up PowerDVD 8 and it played, a step farther than my old card. The movie playback was smooth full screen at 720p so i upped the resolution to 1080p and restarted the movie, it played back smooth where my previous card had not.
Looking at my CPU utilization (Intel core2 duo 2.2 gig) , PowerDVD was utilizing 33% and overall the Idle Time was 50%. So pretty decent stats.
I'm not sure how well this video card would work for gaming but it sure does great in a Home Theater PC playing BluRay at 1080p. If that's what you're looking for, don't hesitate at buying this card.
