Editorial Reviews:

Explicit Version. The Wackness is a coming of age story about sex, drugs, music and what it takes to be a man. NYC in the summer of 1994. Girls were fly, the music was dope, the heat was on and Luke was just trying to deal. The soundtrack features classic period hip hop and R&B tracks from legendary Hip Hop icons like Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, D.J. Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, R. Kelly and more. Starring Josh Peck, Ben Kingsley, Famke Janssen, Olivia Thirlby, Mary Kate Olsen and Method Man. The Wackness tells the story of a troubled teenage drug dealer who trades pot for therapy sessions with a drug addled psychiatrist. Things get more complicated when the kid falls for one of his classmates, who just happens to be the doctor's daughter. Set against the backdrop of the greatest year in Hip Hop history.

Summary: Great movie, perfect soundtrack
Comment: I loved this movie and I thought that every song choice was perfect. As soon as it finished playing I started downloading all the songs on the soundtrack one by one (I read here that every good hip-hop fan already has these songs in their collection; sorry, I'm new to the genre!). I found two different song lists for this album: this one on Amazon, and the one listed on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, both lists are missing songs!
I'm not sure if there are more missing, but the two that I've found are Bonita Applebum by A Tribe Called Quest (the subway fantasy) and Lost at Birth by Public Enemy (the scene where Luke is running around giving the middle finger to everyone in New York City). I hope this helps some fans who noticed the song list for this soundtrack is short!

Summary: Pretty good tracks
Comment: Even though, when this is not a "new material", the music is excellent. The whole idea of the music played on the film was to make it fit on the 1994's state of new york city. Good rap with style.
It was a very good selection of songs.
Definitively worth it- Play some samples if you are not sure...

Summary: Outdated
Comment: While every song on this soundtrack is by far a classic it falls short on new material. Any real hip hop head(especially one from NY or who lived in NY in the 90s) would have all these songs in theie collection somewhere and propably most in their ipods if they have at least a 80g ipod. What should have been done with this soundtrack was have the old classics but add new tracks from everyone of those artist. Maybe the money wasn't there for them to produce that type of soundtrack. Whats even more sad is that with the way mp3 downloads are so easy to get these days with internet access I see no reason why anyone would spend money on this anyway. I only rate this 2 stars because of the classic material on this soundtrack which most hip hop from the 90s was classic anyway. To bad there is no new material on this album.
