Customer Rating: Summary: Avoid this printer Comment: The first printer sent to us printed about 10 large pics and then started banding terribly. Amazon exchanged it for us and the second did not do that. However, it while it does make some nice prints, but needs a lot of adjustment to print the colors that are truly on the screen. Epson did not do well with this product. We went back to an R340.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good photos, but just shy of excellent Comment: READ TO THE END!! - I was having problems with my old Epson R200 so I bought the Workforce 30 to replace it. Since the R200 is 4 years old I figured this one would be easily as good and likely better. NOT EVEN CLOSE! The photos are very dull compared to the R200. I figured with the higher resolution and smaller drop size it could only be better. The R200 has two extra cartidges - light magenta and light cyan, and is dye based instead of pigment based. I guess the two extra cartidges make the difference.
BUT WAIT!
The one other difference was the paper. I had read reviews that said the Office Depot premium photo paper was better then the Kodak. Well, before I finished this review I tried the Kodak paper. Now I would say that the quality is nearly as good as the R200, just slightly less bright and SHOULD hold up better over time. Looks like the Office Depot paper is going back!
Customer Rating: Summary: Noisy Comment: Agree with another review in that this is so noisy it sounds like it's malfunctioning. Also, it does not appear to be networkable, even with a USB connection. After an hour with a tech, I finally gave up and returned it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Epson Workforce 30 Ink Jet Printer Comment: I purchased this printer to replace my old and worn out Epson C88 machine. So far in only a few weeks of heavy use, the printer has performed flawlessly. The set up was very easy (do NOT throw away any cables from your old machines as some don't come with then new ones). All my previous printer settings (very laboriously set up) used for the C88 were saved and transfered over with software installation, saving me a lot of work. Note: follow the set up instructions out of the box to the letter and you will have no problems. I then downloaded and installed the latest driver update and have had no difficulties. It has a very small foot print (nice for my cluttered work space) and has a quiet mode to make the noise a bit less when printing and the wife in the next room is sleeping.
All in all for around eighty bucks or less if you shop on line, this new Epson Workforce 30 fits my needs perfectly. I would recommend it to for the occasional user like myself. Also note: when shopping for ink jets, always keep in mind the replacement costs for ink. If you print a lot this will be a MAJOR factor. I shopped around the internet and this model has a replacement ink cartridge that is not TOO expensive. Then it is only around a month old from mfg. market, so cheap ink is not available yet, but will be in a month or two. My C88 worked fine for many months using ink that cost less than a third of OEM ink from Epson. Now they will scream at voiding the warranty, BUT when OEM ink costs as much as a NEW printer, use the cheap ink- what do ya have to loose?
Customer Rating: Summary: epson printer Comment: Printer works well but extremely noisy when printing, considered sending it back.I've owned 2 other epsons, much quieter.AL
